Ubuntu partition questions

Need a little more info on what you want/need

ext2, ext3, ext4, reiserfs, jfs, etc...

I don't do ubuntu, but I do ubuntu's mother, debian ;)
 
But on topic... what exactly do you need to know about Ubuntu and partitions? I'm sure we can help you
 
Here's what I would do:

SWAP - 2x RAM
/ - 20GB or more (if ya need it)
/home - rest

I don't break things up farther than that.
