Ugh... full retail price

Well, unless I can somehow get a customer service rep to help me out (I know it's possible), I'll be paying for my next phone at full retail price. It'll either be the DROID RAZR or the Galaxy Nexus. Obviously I want the Nexus, but the 32GB version will be so much money. I only have $600.

There's a good chance I will be able to get the RAZR with only $600, but again, there are the setbacks. Waiting for updates, Motoblur, soft keys, no HD, etc.

What should I do? Should I call support and ask if they can cut me a break or something???

I would think it will be close in price to the bionic like $589. You can call in I doubt they will be able to do anything especially with it being bought full retail.

well right now I am finding the international version (simply called the Mototola Razr) in the $600 range, I plan on using it on a GSM network as is, I might wait for ebay though in the $500 range.

Nexus shouldnt be much more in price. Most likely they won't be able to do anything since you are paying full retail. Id say try saving up some more money in the next few weeks or wait until you have enough or can find a used one somewhere.

No, I know for a fact that the reps are allowed to change your account so it says you're eligible for an upgrade. They've done it for me many times before. It just depends on who you get. I just don't want to keep calling back and repeating my reasons as to why I need a new phone, until I get a rep who wants to do it for me.

They can but wont just because you feel you need the latest and greatest. you are in contract and most likely they will say sorry and pay full retail.

There are legitimate reasons as to why I need a new phone. I know what I need to tell them and everything, it's just a matter of calling, hanging up, calling, hanging up, etc.

I don't always have enough patience for that.

Jason how far off are you on your upgrade? If it's a couple weeks you may be able to swing something but if you are talking 1+months. Good luck :)

My man is right...

I've gotten 4 phones in the last year, 3 of them LTE devices...all with the upgrade price, and no upgrade in sight.

All I can say is, if your going to go this route, you better be a real good talker, and remember the golden rule....

You get a hell of alot more bees with honey, then you do vinegar ; )

This thread was started pre-release and now we know it's $649+tax for about $700 full retail from Verizon. Ebay currently is even more.
So any body pony up that kind of cash? Curious is all, as this would be my situation.

If anyone pays full retail for a phone you fail at life. The razr is the first phone I've paid for in 10 yrs, (78$ with tax from corporate Verizon store) and I've had every latest and greatest that has come out. Treo 700wx, storm, storm 2, Droid 1, Droid Inc, thunderbolt, charge, bionic, and now razr. Also, I got all those phones on release day or within a week of, and didn't pay a dollar. I pretty much get a new phone every three months or whenever something a significant amount better comes out, and don't pay a dollar. Its possible. Just have to be a talker:)

P.s. I ended up doing well with the last three, and was actually able to keep my charge, as well as my bionic:D

Donate $100 to the "save the bootloader foundation" for this locked phone, and ill get you your phone for at least discount price ;) haha jk

Sure, why not? Amazon was higher than Verizon for some reason at full retail.

I got lucky and nabbed a brand new razor on ebay for $500..free ship..individual received it as a gift on Ellen show..apparently everybody in audience received one..courtesy of radio shack. Also comes with 3 months free service on vzw. .$115 PER month. .i have seen others for sale from the show on ebay too..650 and up..lot of the gift recipients ddon't have Verizon service and are unloading the razor + $345 service credit for some quick money.
