I have a HTC wildfire, bought in Tesco, using pay as u go and I use it with SFR a french provider. I have a contract but SFR say I cannot connect to the internet with my contract because the phone isn't french. I thought all mobiles could be used in any country if unlocked which mine is as the french sim card works.
Please give me some advice. Thanks.

That sounds a bit silly to me, you should be able to use the internet regardless of what country the phone is from. I think SFR are making things up.

It sounds like you need to sort your APN Settings, a quick google shows the APN settings for SFR as these: Mobile Carrier Settings for SFR - France (that page also looks to have instructions on how to set things up).
