Ultimate n00b.

Hello all,

I just joined the forum a couple of hours ago after trying to find some information about what I can do with my newly rooted evo shift. I have had the phone for nearly a year now, and just had it rooted yesterday. I mainly wanted to be able to use the Wi-Fi hotspot and screen capture.

I know, a lot of work for just those features, so I want to learn exactly what it is that I have done and what I can do to use the phone to its fullest extent. I don't know what software was used to root, what roms are running, or even what a rom is and what the different ones can do.

I do like the general feel and look of the forum here. I joined xda last night and it seems too advanced for me.... It seems that I will, with enough time, be able to accomplish a great understanding of my new toy here. My goals are to eventually have the knowledge to root other devices in the future for others.

I appreciate, in advance, any help that you guys can provide.
