Root Unable to Flash

Lestat127

Lurker
Hi,

I rooted my Epic Touch using Odin-OC. However, I'm still on build number FI27 and thought this should have been automatically updated along with CWM, which is 5.0.2.7.

I also downloaded ROM Manager, but can't seem to flash anything. I get the following error message:

E:update file is backed up: Reportedted

--Installing package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...

E: Failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (Invalid argument)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

What am I doing wrong?

btw- I'm a complete noob at this, so please use simple terminology if possible. I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks.

Thanks Metroid. I haven't hard bricked my phone (yet). The instructions I followed were from QBKing77's website.

I've been to the link you provided, but find that it's all out dated. Eventually, if you follow the trail of newer instructions, you'll wind up doing the exact install I did from QBKing77.

I think the problem might be that I'm still on the FI27 build. I don't know how to get from that to a newer version. I also think I need a new kernel. Lastly, I'm not even sure which ROM I'm running now. Does the IMM in the build number stand for something? Is it ICS? How do I get to gingerbread? Etc., etc.

Again, all information I can find on this is based on builds, kernals, ROMS, etc., that I don't have. So they do me no good. Clearly, I don't know what I'm doing, but the frustrating part is that I'm trying very hard to learn but am getting nowhere. I do appreciate your response though. Thanks.

Edit: Hmm. Maybe you're right. The QBKing77 instructions to root my phone had nothing to do with ROM Manager. I'll look into another way. Thanks.
