Help Unable to install google app.

Hey all.

I've been having this issue with my ZTE Blade A3 not being able to install the Google app. The phone itself comes with all the "Go" versions of most Google apps but I'm able to easily install the normal version, except just base Google. I've tried clearing cache, installing from APK, sideloading through ADB, resetting my phone. Nothing seems to work.

If someone would be able to help me out that would be great,
thanks.

Where are you getting the app from?

You may be getting incompatible versions.

Also, there is a reason that devices have Go editions of apps.
The device has a small amount of memory, and these Go apps are more efficient.

They also spy less on the user.

I have tried downloading it straight from the google play store with no success, then I just looked up "Google APK" and downloaded the first one that showed up.

I understand that the go editions of apps are better for lower end devices, I'm just not able to set anything up using Google Home without having the original Google installed and not Google Go.

Then I would suggest getting a device that better suits these needs, rather than trying to do it with one that cannot.

Give me a second and I will see what versions of the app I can find.

What do you mean what arm is my device and how do I check that?

Arm is the architecture of the device, it is how you know if an app is compatible.

To check is different for different devices.

What is the device, exactly, and what version of Android is it?

The chrome app and all other google services seem to work fine, its just this app that isn't working

EDIT: i need the google app so google home can funtion fully

You may not have enough room for it.

Even if it seems that you do, memory is partitioned differently than we would like.

As this is usually a system app, you may not have the space, and/or there may be conflicts with the existing Google Go app.

Have you tried disabling the Go version?

I've tried disabling the go version of the app, deleting cache drives and uninstalling the package through adb, but the original just won't install. I'm certain I have enough storage to hold the app because I doubt its more then 4gb. Would I need to install the app as a system app?

This is a budget-class phone with only limited system resources to begin with. It's simply not going to be very customizable because Android Go is already a pared-down, reduced-feature operating system and there are inherent and unavoidable hardware limitations. Buy a new or at least newer phone that's more capable, or reconsider your expectations on being able to force this phone into being something it isn't capable of.

The memory you see available is not what I am speaking of.

You can have a device empty of your apps, yet the system memory partition can still be full.

Even if you disable an app, regardless of the method, it will still take up a certain amount of space- it just will not grow or show up as an available app for you.
