Unable to jump tracks fwd/backward from car stereo over bluetooth

Hi all, just upgraded to Z3 from old Galaxy3 last week. I mostly love the phone, except when I'm playing music through the stereo of my 2010 Mazda3 over Bluetooth I can't skip or replay tracks from the stock car stereo head, the only control I have is volume. I can however skip/replay from the phone itself. My old Galaxies 2&3 had no problem with this.
Advice please? Thanks.
