Help Unable to make calls from SIM card which is SIM card slot 1

Seems to be some stupid Android thing.

Android phones do not use the SIM card. All of your contacts come from the email address that you register your phone with.

Is that the dumbest thing ever or what? I mean, really! My email address is full of email contacts, not phone numbers.
