Help Unable to mount sd card

coolecho

Newbie
I have a Samsung Galaxy S, model SPH-D700, ver 2.2.1. I cannot mount the SD card. It mounted one time, and no longer mounts. Tried reboot of the phone. I tried it on a Dell laptop and it doesn't mount there either. Both systems have XP sp3. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

I had this pronlem with using it to debug apps
I flashed it to get it back up...

dont know if your willing to do that

I assume flash is destructive, so probably not. My phone is stock & i don't do development. There must be some other reason or fix.

I don't really need to do that. when i plug in the USB cable it automatically pops up 3 selectors: charging, Mass storage, or tethered (tethered is new option since 2.2.1 update). I select mass storage and windows just does not recognize it. One of my computers pops up message saying "USB device not recognized" the others just do nothing. I always plug into the motherboard main USB ports not a USB extension.
I tried what you suggested and still get "USB not recognized".
Thanks

Thanks to Radio Shack the problem is fixed. Go to Settings->SD card and phone storage then select Unmount SD Card. Turn off the phone. Remove & reinsert the SD Card (not sure if this is really necessary). Restart and wala it mounts every time.
