Unable To Reboot Into Recovery

Lurker
I have a Chinese smartphone Youpu U6 which after a botched attempt (mea culpa) at flashing ROM refuses to reboot into recovery. I've tried restarting, holding down volume-up (which has worked fine previously - volume down is for factory tests, etc.) and from within ROM Manager (purchased) and other similar apps, but to no avail. Also tried rebooting into recovery with ADB but also zilch.

Also, can anyone suggest a suitable ROM for this phone, since it doesn't appear on any lists of supported devices for ROMs I've consulted.

Here's the phone spec.:

Processor: ARMv7 rev 0 (v71)
Hardware: MT6577
Kernel: 3.0.13
Display: ALPS.ICS2.MP.V1
Android 4.1.1

The phone is rooted.

Can anyone help?

By the way, I'm running Linux Mint 15 on my PC and many of the apps mentioned on various forums simply don't work for me.
