Help Unable to receive text messages that are more than 160 characters.

Hello everyone!
I'm using Huawei Ascend y300 with android Jelly Bean OS.
I'm having problem with receiving text messages that are more than 160 characters long.
anybody that can help me with solving this issue is most welcome.
A positive response will be highly appreciated..
Thanks.

That's network-dependent. It's actually normal in the UK where I am to send long SMS rather than converting to MMS, and many Android SMS apps give you the option of whether to do this or not (here it's far more cost-effective to send long SMS as we usually have unlimited SMS but are charged for MMS).

But it's certainly a possible explanation. Some networks have separate APNs for MMS, so it might be worth checking your APN settings (you should be able to find the settings for your carrier on the web).

Anything over 160 characters will be an MMS message so you will need mobile data to be enabled.

Hey Pugs! Thanks for your response..
The said problem is for a particular contact..
I'm successfully receiving long texts from others friends, but long texts from a particular friend do not reach me..
any idea what the problem could be.?

As I've already mentioned in my previous reply that I'm successfully receiving long texts from others friends, but long texts from a particular friend do not reach me..

Maybe that one friend is doing something different, which might be sending as MMS when others are not. Or are they on a different carrier, or using a different app or device? Or do other people have problems with long messages from them?

I've checked the settings on that friend's phone. Settings seems OK from his side..
and other people do not have this type of issue from him..
