i installed 'mobile tracker for android' app and granted it administrative permissions. Now I can't remove administrative privileges granted to the app and hence am unable to uninstall the app. Any help to resolve the problem would be much appreciated. I have already tried removing administrative privileges from settings>security>device administrators, but it doesn't work.
android version: 4.2.1
phone: micromax canvas hd (A116)
carrier : airtel (india)

What "doesn't work" about disabling the administrative privileges? Does it give an error or anything?

no, it doesn't give any error. I touch on the checkbox next to 'mobile tracker for android' app in <device administrators> , which takes me to a new screen which asks me to deactivate or cancel the action. I touch 'deactivate'. Nothing happens, and I am back to the previous page listing all the device administrators with the check box next to the app still checked.
It will be noteworthy here to mention that I have aeGis and 'Android Device Manager' as the other apps with device administrator privileges, but I don't have the same problem uninstalling those apps.

Do you have any luck if you Force Close the app first?

What about if you boot the device into Safe Mode (may or may not be an option on your particular device, but long-press the power button until the power options menu appears and then long-press the power off button. You should be asked if you want to reboot your phone into safe mode.)?

Safe Mode should boot without loading any third-party apps; you can then try to remove the Device Administrator permission.

cannot force stop the app as both the 'force stop' and the 'uninstall' options are greyed out.
device does not offer to boot into safe mode. The device is not rooted.
i rebooted the device several times, but the problem persists.

The app seems to have an "uninstall protection" function. Try going into the app to disable that protection - looks like you'll need the password that was entered when you enabled the protection.

yeah, the app did have uninstall protection. I deactivated it by opening the app, going to options and providing the password to deactivate the protection. It now says 'uninstall protection deactivated'. However, the app continues to remain listed and checkmarked in the device administrator list and the uninstall button remains greyed out.

Hi ...To remove mobile tracker...Download app remover from the play store...Next when opening app remover and trying to remove wifi (mobile tracker) it will take you to device administrator as mobile tracker is a device administrator on your phone until you turn this off...Next click on wifi name for mobile tracker and send it to app removers bin... Now you are free of mobile tracker...It is a nasty application to remove as it grants itself all permission to your phone...Good luck people ...App remover is a great application and is free from the play store
