Root Unable to verify Signature

So I'm trying to flash Superuser, but when I try to run it from the external SD card, it says "failed to verify signature", or something like that.

What now?

what do you mean run it from the external?
as in installing the APK or did you use a app2sd program and moved the installed app?

I put the zip file on my SD card, like the instructions said (xda forum) and went into recovery where it says, install zip from external sd card. the phone SEES the file, but when I try to install it, it starts to try installing and then says "fail to verify"
