Help Understanding the sync process

Hello everyone!
I have a very beginner level question though I use android phones for about 5 years now.
The question was born when I added an account (primarily for emailing) and it autosynced all of its contacts to my phone. So I want to delete these unneeded contacts from my phone without deleting them from the account.

What will happen to the contacts previously synced from google account if I turn the sync off, delete some of them and then turn the sync back on?
Will these contacts be downloaded from google once more? Or will they be deleted from google?

And also connecting question: will this process of syncing be the same for all the data (images, videos and so on) with all accounts?

Thanks for your help

Hi

I believe the lastest modification in time, be it a deletion or addition at either end (phone /server) will be synced on the first available opportunity to sync (ie when you turn sync back on).

For your problem, I think you can go into the settings in "contacts" and choose which accounts are displayed. It does not delete them from your phone but stops them from appearing when you search.

For pictures it is more flexible. In the google photos app you can select "on device" in the menu and then delete just locally. If you dont select this it will delete from all locations (you should be warned)

Thanks for your answer. This method does work for searching in the contact list. But if the newly synced from unwanted account contact coincide (in telephone number) with the contact from the main account (with different name) and when this contact calls me the phone shows the wrong name from an unwanted account.
So I think in my case I should find a way to delete these contacts.

Actually I know that I could delete the whole account from the phone and then readd it disabling the autosync, but maybe there's a way with less effort?
