Hi everybody, in recent weeks I started experiencing some issues with my Magic. Most annoyances were due to some apps not working properly, namely Alarm, Unforgettable Things (Pro version), Google Sky Map and others that implied some sort of scheduling/notification activities.
Then, in the last couple of days, I started having troubles also with the 2G/3G connection. The network did not seem to be able to keep up, making data transfer impossible, as it was browsing the internet, exchange of emails and even access to Android market. Besides, the phone kept trying to establish the data connection, which ended up draining the battery quickly. While it normally my battery life is > 2 days, it went down to 50% in 6 hours.
I decided to call Vodafone Spain customer service. They checked the line and the services and confirmed everything was alright. They suggested something might be wrong with the Magic. So, after changing the data - enabled blackberry SIM card with the Magic's to check whether the device was defective, I could confirm the issue was with the SIM card I use with the Magic, and not with the device.
Vodafone Spain gave me another SIM card this morning and, surprise!!! Not only it did fix all the connectivity issues, but also the wrong behaviour of the applications I mentioned at the beginning of the post.
Not sure why, but I thought this was interesting to share.
Cheers, Alex
