Unimpressed....Yawn.

I know I can really carry on, so I'm making this short. I have a Droid Razr Maxx (first one, not HD). I got my JellyBean OTA, did a FDR, and I'm happy. It's snappy and not buggy, and besides the 3 replacements I've gotten for a bad headphone jack, I see no need to change anything. I plan on using our ghost line to get my next phone, since it's cheaper for me to stay on unlimited and my wife on 5gb, than to go 12gb shared, even though we don't really need unlimited (I use 4-8gb per month, and she rarely hits 2). It saves us $15 per month to upgrade the ghost line and not use it, even with the little bit per month it costs us. She's up for upgrade in July (definitely will use it), I'm up in February 2014, and the ghost line is September.

All that being said, I'm very unimpressed with what I'm seeing. I don't see anything I would spend $200 + on right now at all. I really want a "Galaxy Maxx" or something of that nature. If I can't get at least 75% the battery life I get now, I see no reason to change anything. Quad core, Octo core, whatever, it's all just hype to me. I'm simply not impressed with anything out there. I long for the screen and camera of the DNA, with my Maxx battery and SD support. Any phone without SD support isn't for me. I'm not living off a cloud. I'm not recharging every 6 hours either.

So really, until something else comes out in September or later that REALLY impresses me, OR my phone is no longer on warranty and the headphone jack dies again (June is 1 year from purchase), I'm not switching. None of the stuff that the SGS3 does is necessary for me. I don't even need a better quality screen, maybe a bit larger would be ok, but not past the SGS3.

Is anyone in this boat with me? They keep coming out with more cores, larger screens, thinner phones with more plastic, more fancy things it does, none of which are appealing. I don't even use smart actions, it's not my thing. I'm not giving up good battery life for some stupid promotional talking points.

I need to be WOWED. The same way the OG Droid hit me when I first saw it.

I'm becoming numb to new gadgets. Anyhow, is there hope that Verizon will offer a Droid Razr Maxx HD 2 with 4.5-5" screen, big battery, quad core, etc that's at least better than the current Maxx phones out there and worth grabbing anytime this year?

The newer processors are much more energy efficient than prior ones. You don't NEED that giant battery anymore.

On my evo 4g lte I get home at the end of the day with 75-80% of my battery full

Then why are so many people with SGS3's getting extended batteries? Still others say it lasts all day. Still no WOW factor. I agree they are better processors though I can't say from experience.

Because battery life is one of the most personal experiences you will ever have with your cellphone. =P Seriously though, it depends on so many things, ranging from the nano-details of the processor (Why can some phones under/overclock more effectively than others of the same model? Variations in manufacturing that can't be avoided) and the signal strength where you are and travel, to individual use patterns, etc.

I'm really interested to see what Google and Motorola do with the X phone, but I wouldn't expect that before the end of the year. Google has said Motorola still has some "pre-Google" products in the pipeline that we can expect for the next 12-18 months. I would be shocked if we don't see a big Moto release over the summer, and I would also expect it to have some of what you want. All of it? Not sure, I don't think the rumor mill has a lot for detail at this point.

About the more efficient processors, just because they are better, does that mean that screen is more power efficient too? Most of the time, the screen is what draws the most power. I guess I'm a little skeptical that the processor makes all the difference. If that was the case, why doesn't the RAZR Maxx HD have way better battery life since the processor is a newer generation but it has the same battery?

AMOLED screens are huge power draws. Its by far the most power hungry part on my Galaxy Nexus, far more than 4G or the processor.

In addition to the comments above, when the f*** are the screen wars going to stop?? I don't want a tablet sized phone with a huge screen that I can't fit in my front pocket. My Rezound is plenty big enough, just figure out how to put a 4.5" screen on that same footprint. The Razr M is the perfect phone for me right now and I'm hoping they will come out with the M HD. I don't even care if it's mid range as long as it has a decent battery to keep up with the screen. I will not buy a huge 4.8" screened phone, it's just ridiculous unless you have huge hands and are a huge person.

They are nothing compared to the LCD on my Rezound when I had it!

Ain't that the truth. I was in a training class last week and would surf the web and talk to people on gchat during our breaks. After maybe 30 minutes of screen on time and surfing, then the rest downtime in my pocket, the battery would be at 20% or less.

When power efficiency doubles and a phone with equal or more processing abilities as mine only needs half the battery in amp hours to last equally as long, I'll be impressed.

When I got my tax return I started looking at Verizon's current line-up, looking at paying full price in order to keep my unlimited data.

I wasn't impressed either, so I'm just sticking with my Thunderbolt.

Actually, they kinda did.

I have the original Droid Razr. Not the Maxx. And this past weekend I had the opportunity to check out a Galaxy S3 (yes, last year's model), which has a 4.8" screen. The two phone's share an almost identical footprint (they're close enough to the point where my pocket won't be able to tell the difference) but have very different screen sizes. (The S3 has a MUCH smaller amount of bezel.)

So, there ya go!

Pretty much in the same boat as the OP. I've got the HD and I really like it. That said I'm always watching for the next thing. I paid full price to keep my unlimited so I'm going to run this phone into the ground. Hopefully by the time I'm ready to upgrade there will be something worthy out there. So either Moto needs to make their camera better, or Sammy needs to make their cases less plastic-y and toy/cheap looking. Time will tell.

I'd like a quad core, 4 gig of RAM, excellent camera, huge battery, solid build, OS with NO glitches, easily rooted, with a great low-power consuming screen. Does not have to be huge. The current HD is just fine size-wise. It needs to fit into my shirt pocket and not stick out.

Build me that phone and I'm in. Build it and they will come!

You're speaking my language! Give me a phone the size of the SGS3 (including SD support and no physical home button), with a Maxx battery, the DNA screen and camera, the toughness of the OG Droid, and the case choices of fruit phone, and I would keep it for years!

I hear ya brother. I am a big dude with big hands and I hate these giant phones. I was all pumped for the DNA, and I went and saw it in the store. F'n HUGE! I swear it came with straps to carry it on your back.

Preach on brother! I still have my TB, mainly cause I'm broke as hell, but I still love it! Will probably have to spend like 40 bucks at some point to finally get a extended battery and new case, unless I buy one of those credit card style mini-portable chargers, even if they'd at best only fill up 1/3 of my phones battery.

That still doesn't fit my bill. Every time I upgrade, my phone gets larger and larger. The bezel still stays huge as the screens get bigger. I see that some of the newer phones have smaller bezels, but the screens are so massive, it still makes the phone really big.

Like I said, what's wrong with a 4.5" screen (at least 720p for god's sake) in the size of the current Rezound or Razr M. I looked at the Razr HD yesterday and it was still a bit too big for my taste. The GS3 is a similar size. Even the original Razr and Maxx were too big, which is why I got the Rezound instead.

I see on the blogs that they might bring out a GS4 mini. No idea why they even relate it to the GS4 because it has a dual core processor and a 4.5" qHD screen, barely an upgrade from my 1.5 yr old Rezound.

Seriously, build one phone with a top of the line processor, good camera, 4.5" screen in 720p and make it with a very thin bezel and body, and you have a winning phone that women and people wanting a smaller form factor will buy. I know they tried this with the Incredible HD, but the release delays made the phone obsolete before it was available.

Precisely. Saw it for the first time in person yesterday and wouldn't even consider it an option for me. No way in hell I'll ever have a phone that huge.

Even if I don't need the huge battery I still want it, low signal areas with screen on I can kill my phone in an hr if I wanted.
I want to stream netflix on half a screen, read the internet on the other half in a one bar area for 3 hrs and be down to 90%.
Screen size/display etc don't mean anything to me if I can't use the phone the way I want.

Perfect phone for me has the battery that lasts forever, unlocked bootloader. A headphone jack on top and bottom would be nice, sturdy like Motorolas, good signal, nice internals. But the deal makers are the battery and bootloader.

I was never concerned about screen size coming from an OG Incredible until I got my DNA. So much crisper and easier to type on and I don't even have large hands. I think nowadays, 4.7" would be my minimum and 5" is just dandy. My ideal would still have an SD slot and a slightly larger and removable battery though.
