Uninstalling and reset

I uninstalled an app that I think could be malware, I went to settings and then uninstall, then I reseted my phone because I have read that uninstalling an app that way doesn't fully deleted them, residue or leftovers of the app can still be in the phone.
The residue or leftover of an app using the normal method of uninstalling is fully deleted by reset?

If your phone isn't rooted, then you will be fine as long as you don't re-install the app. If your phone *is* rooted, then the only way to be certain it's completely gone is to flash the factory firmware.
