Universal Remote Application

Yesterday, I found a cool little device that doesn't require you to have an iPhone to be able to send infrared commands to pretty much anything. It connects to your home network either via wifi or ethernet and can control 3 IR emitters or 3 IR blasters or any combination of 3 of those.

If I write an app for this thing, would anybody actually be interested?

The wired version of the gadget is ~$110 shipped and the wifi version of the gadget is ~$175 shipped. I'll post more info when I get the thing and actually use it.

If the price of the gadget drops by a significant amount (say 70%) I might be interested.

At the current hardware costs, I would definitely not be interested.

If I could control that, I would :) It's roughly the same price as the RedEye for the iPhone.

I have no doubt that you would, I am just providing my feedback. :)

I think the hardware costs reduce your target audience. The uncertainty in the equation is the extent of the reduction.

I think the winner way to do this would be Wifi through something like the Global Cache devices.

That is what I am looking for, or when the Vizio tablet comes out with an IR blaster built in, I don't want to be adding stuff to a table to get it to work.

Looks like you are getting along with your redeye like device.

any updates ?
