Unlimited Family Share - drop a line, add a line, keep unlimited?

Hey all,

I just got an offer to switch to another carrier - and the would cover my ETF - with no contract for 30 days. I can get the N2 from them for $299.00. I need to confirm with them if I drop the service w/i 30 days that I do not have to repay what they pay VZW for the ETF (I also need to find their definition of "unlimited data").

If the coverage (especially @ work) is better than I now get with my S3, I would probably stay with them. If I need to come back to VZW (with the S3 I have now), would we still keel unlimited data? Would I then have that line eligible for an upgrade whenever I choose?

Thanks!!!

If you terminate the line, it'll lose unlimited data.

You cannot get it back after that.

Even if I'm not getting a new phone @ contract price?

Do you know if I would get the upgrade on the line to use as I choose, when I choose?

Indeed, if you end your service agreement with Verizon and come back, it would be virtually like a new customer. Not only would you loose unlimited data, but also your single line/family plan and be forced to sign up for a share everything plan. You should be able to get a new phone though if you came back at the subsidized rate because you would be opening a new contract.

If I use my S3 that I have now - could I "pocket" the upgrade for later?

Yes, you would automatically be on Month-to-Month instead of on contract and thus be able to use the upgrade when you see fit.

Also, since you would be on Month-to-Month, if you ever got fed up with verizon, you would be able to leave them whenever you desired etf free as long as you didn't use that upgrade.

that is incorrect information

if you close your account with VZW and switch to a different carrier........ then later decide to come back to VZW you are not going to be month to month using your S3

you can either do pre-pay with VZW (which has its own limited lines of phones available) or you can sign a new contract in which case you would get a new phone........ if you decided to switch and use your S3 on the new contract thats up to you......... but either way youre getting a new phone when you sign up for a new contract with VZW............ you cannot save/store/pocket that upgrade....... and you cannot simply bring a phone to VZW and say I want month to month

There are three account types for Verizon, prepaid, month to month postpaid, and contract postpaid. You are in no way forced to buy a device in order to open a service agreement. A contract is only opened if you buy a subsidized device. Not only would a person not be on contract if they brought their own device, but they would also be off contract if they paid full retail for the device. Lines that complete their contract also are not automatically renewed for a two year contract. They go month to month until a subsidized device is purchased.
