unlimited text include IM?

I have the 34.99 unlimited data plus unlimited text, 700 minutes plus 5 favorites plan and three lines. I was wondering if IM (windows messenger) is included in the text or data. I am planning on removing the texts since I finally got my Google Voice invitation and can send free text messages. MT3G

This is always a confusing question for some reason when I google it. The best thing you can do is use the app you plan to use for IM and see if T-Mobile records as text or not on my.t-mobile.com.

i found this app called nimbuzz, and apparently it doesn't use texts so i am in luck. i pay 160 dollars a month so 15 bucks off can help.

yes

source: own expierence. my mom changed my plan to only 1000 messages/month so i didnt text much and instead talked to my friends on IM and like the bill statement said 8,000 something 'messages!' i called a rep. and she said 'messenging' includes IM too. i was so grounded lmao

Download an app like Nimbuzz or eBuddy. It uses data and not text. As for the girl above me, I chat with my Girlfriend and best friend all day everyday and didn't even come close to breaking 3000 messages. How did you text someone over 8,000 times?! Haha.

That's nothing, so far this month my step-daughter has almost 12,000 texts.
The most I have seen in a 30 days period from her so far is almost 22,000.

8000! 8000/5=$1600 where 5 is $1 for five texts. Thats about how much i pay in a year.

The stock IM app uses text messages, but most other 3rd party IM apps, gtalk, and google voice uses data.
