Unlock galaxy s5 on ee free

Hi all. I've bought a s5 and been told it might be locked to ee. I'm on tesco mobile. Can I unlock this phone myself without paying a charge? I've rooted and unlocked older phones before but if there's a simpler way of doing it to this model can someone point me in the right direction? I don't mind rooting it if I have to.
