Dear Most Diligent Friends,

You were most helpful on my last issue of having no space to store my e-mails. I've come to terms with the fact that I can't have all 3000 of my messages stored on this phone. No Problem.

Ok, on to the next one. My phone is from USCellular. I moved to Texas. USCellular doesn't cover Texas. So, my phone has sat idle and unused since August when I got my company phone (BBerry Torchure).

I want to test your knowledge: Can I unlock my phone and use it for StraightTalk or some other pre-paid service? I'm scheduled to leave the country for Australia in 4 months, and this phone only has to last me that long.

I don't want to unlock my phone for it to be of no use where I intended to use it.

Now, since you've read this far, how about a joke?

What's brown and rhymes with Snoop?

Friends,

Just tried to register my phone with StraighTalk without it being unlocked. The site says "Serial Number Not Found". So pretty much I'm thinking that to use a prepaid service, you've got to have the phone in the system.

I will look in to prepaid arrangements with other carriers.

Ok,

Also having a hard time finding a process for even unlocking this phone. It seems like all the unlock procedures require a changeout of the SIM cards. Not really an option on this.

It's pretty hard to unlock a CDMA phone.

I wasn't sure from your posts, but were you wanting to use it as a pre-paid before you went to Australia, or while you were there?

Probably the only carrier that would let you use that phone as a pre-paid would be USCC.

It's not a world phone, either, so it would be more useless to you in Australia than it is now.

OK Little confused several Prepaid Dealers now state prepaid can be used with any phone in the US. I recently purchased a unlocked rooted Droid 3. However when I try to use it with Red Pocket H20 or Simple I am still directed to "Welcome to Verizon Wireless" None of the prepaid aps logos show up near the bar screen and when I try to place a call I am also directed to Verizon! Help! I am going crazy trying to figure this out!!!! Simple says take the stupid out of your smart phone but how do you do this?
