Unlock itself

Hello.

I've a samsung galaxy note 8.

Today the phone unlocked itself.
I had used a payment app 5 min before. Layed the phone next to my pc. Had gone to homescreen and black-screeened the phone. and suddenly it lit up. First the lock screen and then went into the payment app.

I have had it unlock before but found out it was because setting fail of mine.

Anyone who can help or have tried this?

Possibly it''s trusted devices or trusted locations is turned on? Which allows the phone to self unlock in certain conditions.

Which particular "payment app" are you referring to, because there's many.

Trusted locations is on, but barely work at my school. And it would require me to at least lift my phone to activate the screen. And then swipe my screen to get it from lock screen to get through the password page(still need to swipe on screen even tho i dont have to type password/scan finger if it goes by trusted location).

The payment app is Mobile Pay. Something we got in Denmark so we can pay by scanning Qr code or a phonenumber.

So check the permissions of the app and see what control is has over your device. Maybe even uninstall it and test.

The app has basic permissions: camera, contacts, storage, place.
and under notify: payment from locked screen (to quickly pay with bluetooth, but i just turned it off), send and ask for money notify.

I cant really uninstall it since i use it almost every day.

Well if you really wanna troubleshoot things it’s helpful to remove the application. Certainly you were able to make your purchases without this “feature” prior to you getting the note 8... ;)

It's not a feature the note 8 has built in. Samsung has their own payment app. But mobilepay is an app most people in denmark use, whether its for shopping, getting food, paying online, transfer money to others.
If i remove the app, it means always use card or cold cash. And who even uses cash anymore...
But i'll try to force app to close after every use and see if it still does it, or if it open other apps instead

We have a similar thing here in China, AliPay and TenPay(via Wechat), but I've certainly never heard or seen them unlocking and activating themselves, I always have to unlock my phone, open the app, and any QR code payments must to be authorised with PIN or fingerprint.

If it happens again, might be worth you contacting the Mobile Pay customer support and enquiring about it.

the app allows you to pay using the device. that is the 'feature' i speak about.

my point still stands--if you want to eliminate the app as a potential issue, you should remove it to test.
