So, I want to leave sprint, but can't pay ETF right away and we want to take our phones to straight talk. Am I able to unlock them with a third party site without paying ETF?
Hello Tyla!
I may not know much about unlocking phones, but I do know this. 3rd party unlocking sites are unreliable. Get the code from Sprint. Also, if you are trying to dodge paying an ETF, we cannot provide direction to such.
Maybe 8 months, I just want to leave sprint because they are shady, and I can save $60 a month switching to straight talk, an I know they won't unlock phones without paying ETF, Thus third party.
So....you are trying not to pay the ETF. I'm a little confused but that seems to me you want to skirt around it.
Please clarify? I'm not trying to argue, by no means
By definition, ETF is Early Termination Fee.
Hypothetically speaking, let's say you unlock your device, and go to straight talk. When do you plan to pay the ETF?
You are running the risk that Sprint blacklists the phones rendering them useless on any network and its well within their rights. That could happen regardless of the phone being unlocked if you haven't satisfied the contract. I'd talk with Sprint and take care of the ETF first if the long term savings are worth it ($60 X 16 months remaining on a 2 yr contract = ~$960).
