Help Unlocking help/advice needed

I am very interested in this phone, but it is a bit out of my price range to buy it retail or pre unlocked. But I was browsing and I found a used locked FLipout for $220 but it is locked by the Canadian carrier Rogers Wireless. Now, my question is, if I unlock the phone will it work on Tmobile's USA 3g network?

I did some research and asked a few people, but from my experience on this board is that the people here really know their stuff.

From my research I have gathered that, Rogers 3g network operates on 1900 mhz frequency , while T-Mobile also uses the 1900 mhz frequency, I'm under the impression that T-Mobile USA's 3g frequency is 1700mhz. So I would assume that it would not work, but I am extremely uneducated on the subject so that's why I'm looking for an unbiased source.

You need the 1700/2100 band for 3G on TM USA. So no, won't work I'm afraid.

I have a follow-up question to this thread so I hope its ok to ask it on here, but could it still be unlocked without functioning 3G. Like use the phone with tmobile but not be able to use 3G
