Unread mails showing as read

I've had this problem for along time across multiple roms and its bugging me something rotten!

I have my Sky email setup on my phone (IMAP) and I don't get a notification for new messages. When I open my inbox new mails are there but showing as being read?
I dont have any other device or PC reading them at all.

Can anyone help?

Hi Valiceemo,

What email application are you using, and have you tried using another one to see if the behavior persists? Are you able to check your email via a website? If so, are the messages marked Read there as well? Could you maybe post some screenshots of your settings (marking out any personal info, please!)?

There are a number of different things that could cause the problem you're seeing; I hope that getting some more information will make it easier for us to help

I'm using the stock mail app. But I've also tried k9 and aqua mail and the problem is still there.

Also I can check my mail via the web and its shows as being read.

It looks like your settings are correct, so that shouldn't be it. Is it possible that you have another service or client set up to check your Sky mail? It may be worth a shot to change your password and see if the trouble continues.

Have you tried accessing your Sky webmail to see if the issue persists there as well? Your post beat me!

I don't have another service nor client checking my mail no. I'll try changing my password see of that works.
