Unremovable Nova

Recently I tried to remove nova launcher but I could not uninstall it. I was able to do that with nova prime, though. They weren't working anyway and I needed the space. Are they supposed to be unremovable?

Is Nova set to be your default home app? It might not let you remove it if it is or there isn't an alternate launcher.

If you boot the device into safe mode you will be able to uninstall the application that you want removed. Safe mode boots the device up like a default device and disables all applications that were installed temporarily. Look up "How to boot (your device) into safe mode" and follow the tutorial. After you have booted into safe mode you can go to the settings and then applications and target the app you want to remove. After you have completed that just turn the device off and on again and it will reboot like normal without the application you uninstalled

Wait. Lol.. I have built many ROMs with Nova as it's default & only launcher, that way ya have a million launcher based options right from boot. GroundZeroROMs all have them, for instance. So it's highly possible this could be the case, or a zip was flashed that set the launcher into system. Just food for thought..

It's a ZTE Z813, a terrible phone with only 8 gb of memory. I'm trying to save up for another one but it's very hard to do. I wouldn't be trying to remove Nova but as said I need the room and it"s not working anyway.

It's both. It kept saying that it wasn't working and that's why I tried to remove it, that and the space. I was surprised, especially when I could get rid of nova prime.

A custom rom, that's a good one. This $27 piece of junk from walmart, mind you, can barely handle what it's got built into it. I know nova has an excellent reputation, which is why I downloaded it. It's probably not nova's fault, but something had to give.

Which device, again?

You should be able to find it under settings>privacy and security>Device administrators. Mind you that ZTE might have those worded a little differently.

Kind of followed along with this thread because I thought it was odd that Nova was unremovable.

Well, today when I was trying to edit an app, Nova stopped.
(Report sent)

Went to the app information page and found that the "Uninstall" option was also not available.

Checked to see if I had made Nova a Phone Administrator...
Negative.

Next questions someone will ask...

Samsung Galaxy S5,
Running stock Android 6.0.1.

Ideas, anyone?

1. Are there any other launchers to choose from?
2. Did you get this phone secondhand or brand new?

New and have the stock Samsung launchers available.

Side note...
Just emailed the developers with the issue. Let's see what they say. I've been a Nova (and Prime) user for a number of years without issue, so I'm curious as to what's going on.

It's because Nova is set as default.

I just checked and uninstall was greyed out for me as well (Nova 5.5.3) until I changed the default launcher to Apex. Then I could uninstall Nova (but I didn't because I don't wanna ;) )
