Well the title says it all, my phones screen is unresponsive also its black ha, my phone turns on, but no screen and no touch. I just want to replace it, because AT&T is charging me $200 to replace it, I want this to be my last option, I want to see if I can fix the screen myself first for cheap. I was looking in amazon and it is like $250 for the replacement parts, well not an option.

Anybody else has done these before? maybe someone that can help me with an ebay link for cheaper?

If anybody has experience doing this, maybe send me a pm or something, I really need to fix my phone before the 19th, because I will be traveling a lot, and I neeeeed my sammy S3 before I do so.

Thank you very much :)

Its better to pay to have this done if you damaged it. That way warranty can still be given on the parts.

Plus its odd that both the digitiser and screen have broken. 2 parts? How have you actually diagnosed the fault?

Because at first it was just unresponsive, I was able to see my screen, but It wouldnt let me play with it, but after a few hours, the screen went back, and it wont turn on.

The problem is that I dropped my phone a couple of weeks ago, and the screen has a couple of small cracks, so now they wont help me because of "accidental damage" but the screen worked fine for 2 weeks up until yesterday.

What I mean is, you could buy a new digitiser (the glass bit that does touch input) and a new screen, when it could be a motherboard issue too. Just trying to help you save money.

Personally, I always recommend insurance

I have insurance, but like I said, I am trying to review all of my options you know, its always nice to ask other people for opinions without rushing into doing something that might not be the best option.

I also appreciate everybody's responses, I think I will go to AT&T today to get my replacement. I can't bear not having a phone.

Do you think they will let me keep my battery? I mean the battery is fine haha.

Also do you think it could be the motherboard even if my phone turns on/receive calls/texts/facebook notifications/ my alarm goes off etc...?

Do you have a link of where I could buy the new digitiser, and the new screen?

Hiya,

Usually on a swap out, they make you keep the battery but I'm sure it differes between country / carrier etc.

When I say motherboard, my thinking was the connection between the screen / digitiser / motherboard.

You can buy them on Ebay. Not cheap though...

My phone locksup quite frequently. The only fix is to do a battery pull. I'll have to call in for a trade
