Help Unstable bluetooth connection

xTARDISx

Lurker
I just bought a 2015 Honda Odyssey and it has bluetooth compatibility. I connected my phone for a trip we had last weekend and it would constantly disconnect and reconnect. Once a minute or less. My wife also has a Galaxy S6 and hers did not have that problem.

I was thinking doing a factory reset with only my my contacts backed up in case it was an app causing issue.

Any suggestions?

I have the same issue. It might have come after the 5.1.1 update. I have a 2015 Honda CRV but I don't think it is the car. My bluetooth headset doesn't stay connected either.

I connect my bluetooth to my Jeep Wrangler, and the first time set up had I had a similar problem. I think I figured out what the problem was...

When you connect your S6 to the device (in this case your car) there will be a series of pop ups which prompt you for authorization. I guess with my initial set up once I saw I was connected to my Jeep I closed the bluetooth "app" without waiting. I disconnected and went through the re connection process once more, but this time I waited with the bluetooth "app" still open. A series of pop ups will eventually come. I "Accepted" all the pop ups. Now, my phone has NO issues with phone calls or playing media.

I'm unsure if this process is different cause of my vehicle but your guys' issue sounds about the same as I faced. Let me know how this works out.

Same problem with my 2015 Mazda 6. Problem started after the update to Android 5.1.1. Any suggestions? I've paired and repaired, wiped cache partition twice, cleared bluetooth data and cache twice, booted in smart mode...nothing helps. Tmobile customer.service was not helpful...there's got to be a work around here.

In my 2013 Honda Accord I had a similar problem. Seems to happen less so if I remember to turn off wi-fi before connecting to Bluetooth. I believe what happens is that if wifi is enabled then when I pass somewhere that has a strong wifi signal the phone tries to connect and that cuts the Bluetooth flow that I'd been using on 4G.
Who knows?

I have the same problem. Upgraded my Samsung S6 to Android 5.1.1 and ever since my device constantly connects and disconnects to my car's bluetooth. Incidently my car is also a Honda Accord 2014 EXL. I've tried everything, including those suggestions listed in this thread- unpairing, re-pairing, deleting the phone from the car and then creating a fresh instance etc - everything short of doing a factory reset, but none work for me. It is still disconnecting and reconnecting, now almost every minute or so.

Other suggestions in this thread do not work for me - turning off wi-fi, etc. Were there any other suggestions that I can try to get rid of this issue. It seems to me that the upgrade to Android 5.1.1 created an unnecessary bug, that is difficult to replicate.

I have HTC One M8 and Honda CR-V 2016 with the same problem. I asked the dealership but they could not help sending me to Honda Link Support (888-528-7876, if anyone interested). I tried many recommendations found on forums but the only one seems to work well (at Androidcentral forum, by user katieelva): "when I re-paired the phone asks you if the Handsfree Link device can have access to your messages, phonebook, call logs, etc - HIT NO. Then it asks a very similar question asking for access to whatever - HIT NO." So, I did the same and it is still working for almost an hour! I will check it again tomorrow for longer period.

Did this solution end up working for you?

I have same problem, same phone, same car. Was wondering if what you tried worked before I do same thing. I already went thru the repairing & factory reset on car with Honda; that didn't work. Thanks.

Yes, it worked. However, later I found a new issue: when I turn the car on, it does not see my phone's bluetooth. So, I have to turn the bluetooth on the phone OFF and then back ON, then it connects to my car system. However, in my wife's CR-V everything goes well and I have no need to turn off/on the bluetooth.

It worked. (See my previous reply about another issue)

Thanks. my problem is when Pandora is on & I receive a text then car Bluetooth disconnects & I cannot getting to reconnect unless I turn off engine & restart.Honda says it might be the phone so to try pairing another phone however I was going to try what you did. Grrr very annoying because I like Pandora & I need to receive texts. thanks for you help.

I have Samsung phones went from a S4 to a S7 this yr however I have had to Honda CRV one a 14 and one a 15 on the 14 I had about a yr and the blue tooth quit working one day brought it in and they had to replace the blue tooth component. Now I own a 2015 and this one quit I have had my car a little over a yr now. Again they are having to replace the blue tooth set up. This is aggravating to say the least. I am not sure what is going on with the blue tooth but I will be thinking harder when I make another trade.

I have noticed something when riding my bicycle that shows the S6 Bluetooth is probably a bit weak and definitely susceptible to interference. If the phone is in by back pocket and I am around 80m from a cell site, the Bluetooth disconnects. It then reconnects and disconnects again when i am on the other side of the cell site. I noticed this with a 'smart helmet' I was testing and it also occurs with my Garmin bike computer.
