Unused Applications Not Responding

Griffinit

Lurker
I am getting constant :

Facebook not responding. Wait or Close.
Skype not responding. Wait or Close.

They occur so frequently the phone is unusable as they interrupt whatever I am doing over and over again.

They were being followed by a "send feedback" request which was another huge annoyance. I disabled Marketing Feedback and that stopped it, but has caused constant "Google Play Store has Stopped. OK?" interrupts.

I have never used Facebook or Skype - and don't intend to, so I cannot understand why these stupid messages are occuring all the time.

Obviously, not keen on factory reset, have a lot of downloaded s/w etc. and I should think this issue is being caused by some application which could be disabled -- but how to find out which? I suppose deleting/disabling them one by one, but again, not keen on that.

Hi Griffinit, and welcome to Android Forums :)

What device and/or Android version do you have? If you're on Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) or later, you can permanently disable those pre-installed apps that you have no use for.

Yes, I can permanently disable Facebook, haven't tried that as I think the problem is that some other app is causing the problem by calling Facebook.

Since I've been having this problem my wifi keeps disconnecting. May well be relevant too. Nothing wrong with my router etc - no other devices have any problem with wifi.

It's a Sony Xperia Miro.

Unless you're attempting to share something to Facebook from another app when it crashes, I really don't see how it could be an app other than Facebook causing the issue. It's likely that the Facebook app's background service is having trouble for some reason - could be related to the wifi disconnects, perhaps.

I'd suggest disabling Facebook and Skype at least to test and see if any of the issues do clear up. If you still have trouble with Wifi disconnects, that would probably be a device-specific issue. You could try posting about that issue in the Sony Xperia Miro subforum to see if anyone else has had a similar problem.
