How do I stop unwanted downloads on unwanted apps that are installed on my HTC Desire S, such as Twitter and some Play Store stuff? For instance, I do not use Twitter and never will. I cannot uninstall it as it was installed automatically.
Thank you.

Welcome to Android Forums!

There isn't much you can do about bloatware: that is, apps that come pre-installed on the phone as system apps. You can root the device and try to remove them; but many system apps might make the phone inoperable if removed. A better option would be to root the device, and use an app called Titanium Backup to "freeze" the app. It will not work and not show up in the app drawer while frozen.

Also as a convenience to you, go into Play settings and make sure that "Auto-ad widgets" is UNCHECKED. That way, new apps won't automatically try to add to your homescreen... and you can add them whenever and wherever YOU want them :)

Hope this helps!
