Help Unwanted Google and Samsung apps

I frequently use my S3 whilst abroad, and bitterly regret the bandwidth, processor time and battery life caused by automatic updates of apps which I never use and do not want - particularly Google and Samsung apps. There seem to be a never-ending list of these apps which cannot apparently be uninstalled, and if I try to disable them I get a dire warning that something else might be affected (although it never says what). If I continue I get the option to revert to the factory version (which will presumably only increase the amount of update traffic) or cancel - which cancels the disable function.

I do not want every camera shot I take to be uploaded to some nefarious backup site; nor to I think I need Google Play Books/Games/Movies/Music/Newsstand/services/Store/Text-to-speech or Google+. Nor Group Play, Hangouts and so on.

How can I stop these apps from hogging my S3 or remove them?

Go ahead and disable anything you don't want. Maybe disable one or two things at a time to see what the effect is. If something you DO want quits you can always go back and enable it again.

Reverting to the factory version just means that updates to the app will be uninstalled. No problem, they can be reinstalled.

Some of these apps may be removable. Those that are not will require rooting the phone to remove. Probably not worthwhile, especially since disabling them is effectively just as good.

Just go into play store settings and turn off auto update. Backing up photos to Google account is not nefarious. Just disable the apps (all the ones you mentioned are safe to disable). Although some are quite useful. I never use any Samsung apps.
You can always root and install a custom rom with no Samsung apps and very minimal Google apps (just play store and Google app if you want) Google app for Google now function, the most useful, advanced, important function in Android.

Many thanks, fellas. I hope I will now have a less frustrating time!

I have disabled/deleted Google+, but still have 1000+ photos in Gallery labelled "Auto Backup". How can I delete this album? I can select it, but cannot find any way to remove it.
