Unwanted notifications

I am receiving regular notifications regarding online dating from Zoosk which I have never ever heard of. I notice they are linked with facebook. Anyone know how to stop these. I can see something in the notification about opting out but when I open the notification to see the full content it disappears off my phone. This is really annoying. If this turns out to be to do with facebook then I shall be binning my account.

I have logged a call with Zoosk support as their website mentions texting STOP to a number. I refuse to do this as I dont know how they have got my number in the first place as I haven't registered for an account.

Is it possible that you have installed a virus on your phone? If this were on a PC I'd say it's some malicious software, but I'm in no way a pro when it comes to android! Try downloading Lookout from the app market and see if it finds anything untoward.

Zoosk is an online dating service that advertises a lot on television here in the states. I'd wait to see what you hear back from Zoosk support. Is it possible that someone compromised your facebook account and created a Zoosk account in your name?

Another thing you might want to try is to try and log into the Zoosk site using your facebook credentials. If it doesn't accept the login then someone may have specified your phone number when they signed up for text alerts on the site.

Sounds like those damned Pushair notifications. They are the most obnoxious things and pretty much hated universally. It is part of a recently installed app and that app should be uninstalled and the developer informed of your distaste for the practice.

I already have Lookout installed and it reports no infections. The info on Pushair sounds right as I tried opening the last notification and it launched a free app which had nothing to do with dating sites at all. I have removed the app concerned, so will see if this stops them. If it works then I shall contact the apps developers because I do still wish to use the app if possible.

Thanks for all your replies guys, most helpful
