Unwanted photos keep coming back.

Lurker
I deleted a bunch of photos a while ago that I didn't want. Somehow, miraculously, they just popped back up in my gallery the other day with no option of deleting. There's a clear symbol over the album thumbnail that looks like picasa but it's not. I don't understand how I can delete them and keep them deleted forever.
I tried going through Settings>Applications>Gallery and clearing it, like someone else suggested, but not even a minute later the images are right back in my gallery again.
I have also taken the auto back-up option off my phone, AND factory reset it. How are they still stuck in my phone somewhere???

Photo's that usually appear back even if deleted is a cause to the accounts it was "either recently backed up with or uploaded to"... you can go into settings>account>(check which account has the picasa or google+ and un-check it) if its checked then it will automatically sync the photo's that were linked to that specific account.
