Help Unwanted search results when searching contacts

Does anybody know how to clear out or manage the results of a contact search? Whenever I search for a contact, I get results from old deleted emails from years ago that just clutter up what I'm actually searching for. These aren't in my contact list and only show up when I search for a contact.

For example, if I type "cra" in my contacts search bar, I get hundreds of old craigslist email relay addresses from what I'm guessing are addresses that I've emailed before.

Suggestions?

To stop it from happening in the future go into Gmail settings online (not your phone), about 1/3 way down is "Create contacts for auto-complete:". Set it to "I'll add contacts myself". This will cut way down on what's searchable for auto-complete.

Then go into all contacts online, you should be able to find/delete them there.

After you do that, go into settings/apps on your phone and find Gmail. Clear cache. Then re-sync them, hat should update your contacts to with only your good ones.
