Help Update 4.4.2 (KitKat)

Android is built for the particular device, and most manufacturers customise it to some degree. So the update for your tablet will be different from the update for someone else's tablet or phone. This isn't a general problem with 4.4.2, but we'll need to know what type of tablet you have to know whether other owners suffer the same.
One interesting thing is that you say "screen shots appear dull". Do you mean when viewed on the tablet or when copied to another device? A screen shot isn't a photograph of the display but a copy of what the tablet is trying to show, so if e.g. you turn the brightness down it won't affect a screen shot. Therefore if the screen shots look dull when viewed on a different device it would imply that the difference is in how the software is interpreting the image it wishes to display, as opposed to how it is driving the display unit itself.
