To be fair, these innovations were made when Motorola was owned by Google -- so to a large degree they are merely stealing from themselves. I actually think many of the Moto "extras" on the Moto X were a form of beta test for Google, to see if they were worth doing and practical to add into stock Android.

If it was a patented feature at the time, in all likelihood google owns it.

Im not sure how much I would honestly use this, but I guess its nice to have provided I can turn it off in the settings somewhere so its not "looking" for a wrist flick.

Oh agreed Google has every right to it. I'm just excited it's a feature that is included on the 6p. I miss not having it on my Nexus 6 but found it very useful when I had my Moto X. It's a quick and easy way to launch the camera (and with the moto x is was never an issue of unwanted camera activation)

It looks like the android press jumped the gun.

AP is reporting they have confirmation from google that it does not have the twist feature, but rather double tap power
