Update Kyocera Event to 4.4 Kitkat?

I just bought a fitness-tracking wristband. It requires Android 4.3.
I don't want to install the app on my main phone. It drains phone's battery. I have Kyocera Event 4.04
I Google around. Found this:

Has anybody tried to update their Kyocera Event to 4.4 Kitkat?

See, according to everyone around here, the bootloader is locked and we can't make custom roms for the event. So I'm very curious how (if this is real) they did this.

Dont bother trying to download anything from that site, its a scam. The guy listed the same download links for a dozen other phones in order for people to click the links and earn him money for the survey junk. Theres no kitkat for the Event.

To add, KitKat doesn't really run well with single core CPUs like the Event's. I wouldn't bother. If you must upgrade, you're better off with a newer phone like the Tribute for Virgin Mobile USA, which sells for $40 brand new. That runs KK 4.4.2.

The Lg Tribute is now 39.99 on the Virgin Mobile website. ( http://www.virginmobileusa.com/shop/cell-phones/lg-tribute-4G-LTE-phone/features/ ) The LG Tribute 2 (it has android lollipop 5.1) is also close to $40 at 49.99.
