Help update Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 with Gingerbread XXJVT 2.3.5 Problem

I want to upgrade my Samsung Galaxy S from android 2.2 to 2.3.5 ...but I am having a problem in the upgradation process described in this article ...The problem is as follows : I am entering in the download mode and the connecting the USB, keeping the Odin open in my computer ....As per the article ....as soon as the USB connects , ID: COM section will turn yellow .....!!!!????....Here lies my problem ...After connecting mine does not turns yellow but it remains normal .....I don't unterstand ....Help needed ...I read the article from androidadvices.com .....

The Odin problem you are describing is due to missing or wrong USB drivers on your pc (Mac is not supported). Download the appropriate driver for your device here. If you feel better getting it direct from Samsung, download Samsung Kies (you don't actually need the Kies s/w, but the package also contains the needed drivers).

Just checking.... but in Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging, have you made sure that you ticked (checked) the box?

@ Mr Lucky ....firstly the like that you provided don't contain the Drives for my Device which is Galaxy S ....Therefore I have to get it from Samsung Kies ....But unfortunately I don't know how to get it ...Thank You


@ironass ...No,my USB debugging box is not clicked .....Can you tell me what is the use of it and by clicking it will it solve the ordin problem ?? ....Thank you

It's not that critical... you just need the generic USB drivers, which are in all the packages. Nonetheless, if you want to try Kies, go here, and then select Mobile Phone > Tablet, etc.
