Help Update

Today, my HTC Magic prompted me to download system updates, which I did, and I hate it!
Is there no way to go back to the previous version?
I had everything just as I liked it, now I have a different interface, apps that wont function properly.
I had been using an excellent sms popup app which did a great job, but now i'm back to getting double notifications, changed icons etc - arghh!
I have looked, but cannot see how to disable the phone's notifications. Having said that, I didn't have to before the update, the app just worked..grr. Any ideas please?

Were you using a custom launcher? System updates have a tendency to set everything back to default values which would disable launcher-specific widgets and shortcuts. If you press the home button does it ask you for a choice of launchers?

Hi, no nothing happens when I long press the home button.
I don't remember having this much grief getting the app to work when I first installed it. This stupid update has really ruined my phone usage for me. There's nothing in the update that has enhanced my usage at all

It shouldn't require a long press. just a regular one. Since it was an HTC phone, i assume you were running SenseUI. You can try soft reseting Sense by going to Settings > All Settings > Today, then choose the Items tab at the bottom and and check the HTC Sense box if unchecked. Uncheck it if checked, select OK at the top right and then soft reset the phone.

There's nothing like that in my settings..?

Found this on the HTC website. Interesting ...

HTC is not currently planning any Android 1.6 upgrades for Rogers Dream or Magic . Android 1.6 was only made available for

Sorry for the delay in replying.

that's the latest, but Android version really doesn't have anything to do with SenseUI. What you need to do is find out how to restart/enable the SenseUI after updating and your screens should come back. Unfortunately I don't have an HTC phone that runs SenseUI to find out for you. Maybe someone else can help.

People seem to like Sense but if not then install a different launcher. ADW and Launcher Pro are very popular and more like what you had. The rest is done with getting the apps back that you like and settings to match.
