Updated phone-forgot to backup

OK so my friend updated his SE x10. He forgot to backup his data.

Is their any way the backed up data such as contacts etc can be retrieved again?

+1 If you have a Google account on your phone, your contacts will be backed up already. Once you sign into your G account, it will ask you if you want to import your contacts.

yes i was thinkin that it could be in the gmail account.
