updates/app information?

I don't know if this question is specific to sgs3, but maybe I'm missing something.

I wanted to know where could I find the information/details/content of the updates installed on my device, and how could I see the same things before I install a new update?

I would also like to get more elaborate details on processes and apps?

What details do you need that the Play store doesn't already give you?

For example I have this thing called "software update" - no clue what it is, and what software is it referring to?

I also have some vague running apps (probably bloatware) such as secphone and stock daemon. I can google to see what these things are, but it would be nice to have some kind of option to get more information about them in the phone itself
