Updates for Z2 Force

Thinking about buying a NIB unlocked xt1789-03 Force Sprint version. No one can tell me if the Oreo update is still available OTA. I would be using a Verizon sim. I prefer the Z2 for the metal body and cameras. I searched for ours and chatted with Motorola. No one can tell me anything about available updates. I don't want to buy before knowing it will update easily OTA. Anyone know for sure?
 
In my experience getting OTAs from a previously carrier locked phone on another carrier is hit or miss, leaning more towards miss. I can't speak specifically for the Z2 Force, just a general anderstanding that carriers control the rollout of OTAs.
 
Thx. This is a new unit, never sold or refurbished. Just want to get it to Oreo. Pie not available. I see others have many problems updating and Moto isn't very specific. There was an Oreo update, but I have no way to know if it is still available. I want to replace my wonderful Droid turbo.
 
If upgrades/updates for the operating system are a priority for you than it would be better to migrate to an iPhone. But if you want to stay clear of Apple's oversight and stay with Android, while Motorola does have some really good phones it isn't going to be best option for consistent, regular OS upgrades Also, the general trend is for longer term support for higher end models, and less support for lower end models. There's some overlap in that but for the most part Android support issues are just too unpredictable. Here's a good read on the matter, a lot of it based on recent history summations (something that can be accountable, but can't be a 100% thing as the market just has too many variables):

I am not a phone nut or a techie. I do use my phone a lot. I have always used Motorola hardware starting with my 7 years as a police officer with 2way radios. I don't like the idea of glass bodied phones. I have also considered Z3 Play. I am on my second 2014 turbo which has many great features. Battery calibration issues have made it prone to shutting down with plenty of juice left. It is the perfect size, nice display and decent cameras. Time to move up.

You could always download the firmware and use Fastboot or mfastboot to manually update the device.

Not one to run a challenge, I am very gun-shy regarding puters and phones. I haven't a clue how to do that.This afternoon I read posts on the net from people who ran into trouble doing that. If it is OTA I am good with that. I am concerned that this model originally built for Sprint. I have a Verizon sim. My smallest tool is a 20 lb Stilson wrench.
