If it was going to get an update it would have been several years ago.
However, the funny thing is that it looks like many versions of this phone did receive updates, indeed all the way up to Android 9. So either yours is some odd variant that didn't, or something else has stopped you receiving it. That can happen when a device is sold via one service provider but used on another: if it is running software that is customised by the service provider then that service provider has to release the updates, but when the phone is used on another network that often doesn't work.
If you can tell us exactly what model it is (as there are about 4 variants), what country it was originally sold in, and whether it was sold via a service provider/has any provider customisations (even a provider logo when you boot it up would be a sign of this) then we may be able to help (identify the problem and maybe suggest a fix). If you've not received a notification over the air that may mean downloading firmware e.g. from Sammobile.com and updating using a computer.
