Updating Android?

Ok guys I want to get an android phone, Nexus One, Moto Droid etc... whichever one I decide on... say in the next few months Android 3.0 comes out... will my phone be update-able? Or is it stuck with 1.5/ 2.01 / 2.1 etc?

Your phone is always able to be updated. Now..depending on which carrier you have, you may have to go to the carrier store and have a tech do it, or DL it on the carrier's support page, or it could be OTA. But I promise you...depending on the phone the only Android firmware update you'll have anytime soon is 2.1. :)

LOL thats good to know, and btw It'll be Verizon... do you know if it'll be OTA?

I've been trying to get Android... 1.6? I think? On my touch pro... no CMDA port has been working very well for it so I decided hell, why not get a new phone all together lol.

Yea...Verizon it should be OTA. If not, then they'll prolly have a "download form you PC" option available, or you can go to the store. As far as I know you can't put android on you TP, it won't work. There's something to do with the ROM's and the WinMo kernel or something.

Yea...honestly...go with a Droid. The 2.1 update is coming up soon, and you'll love the phone.

Oh it runs decently... when it wants to.Its fun to mess around with at any rate. Not practical as a permanent install, however. Definitely has made me want to get a Droid! xD

Now to scrounge up 200 bucks... :( lol

I got my girlfriend the droid the day it came out and I have had the n1 for about two weeks now. the droid is a great phone and you wont be disappointed with it but I would wait for the n1. I just think that once adobe flash is up and running its going to nice to have the extra horse power. I thought I may have made a mistake when I got the n1 because off the lack of physical keyboard but once I stoped making corrections as text and i trusted the phone to do it for me I really think its faster than a physical keyboard. and its pretty.

Whats this about flash?

And... I can't use a phone without a physical keyboard... blame my HTC brick =D

Nexus One is a no-go due to that... unless this flash deal is just that sexy... do tell me more!

The Droid will have flash as well...they have originally said 1Q 2010
Oh well then that's settled for me xD

I think what randel77 was getting at with flash on the N1 and Moto Droid is that the processor in the N1 (the Snapdragon) is better than the one in the Droid and will cope with the resource hogging flash better.

Personally I don't care and think flash sucks anyway but if you have some sites that are flash based and you just can't live without them then I think the extra processor power will come in handy.

PS: Getting the Moto Milestone so I might be biased. ;)

when will the update 2.0 be released???? 1.6 of htc tattoo doesnt support bluetooth file transfers... i really wanna update it.. its a great phone

Its carrier specific. People love to blame Google but they give out the goods as soon as they can and its up to your carrier and phone manufacturer to make it work on your phone and get it out to you. So go hound them.
