Updating restored apps?

A quick question...

I had to swap out my phone today. I used the market to redownload my paid apps and Astro to backup and reinstall my free ones (just so I wouldn't have to search each one out.) As the backed up/restored apps don't appear in the market download history, they don't seem to check for automatic updates. Am I missing something or will I have to redownload them by hand if I want to keep my apps updated?

Thanks!!

I think you would have to download them again, or use Google's built in backup feature that redownloads the apps after you wipe the phone. Installing the APKs from actual file backups doesn't seem to do it. If your phone is rooted, perhaps there's a way to trick it into thinking that they've been downloaded, but I doubt there is a good solution.

Cool, thanks for the info (for some reason I managed to back up all of my contacts, ect, but only my paid apps through google.) Makes sense so people can't just install .apks and bypass the market.

It was getting to be time to cull the unused apps anyways. =)
