So if I get a phone prior to the 28th , and want to change it after the 28th for something else (within 2 week window) does that still keep me on the unlimited?

for example, i am getting a maxx, but may want to change it to the s3, or vice versa. do i keep or lose the unlimited? need to know to make my decision on which phone to get. thanks

Wondering the same thing but someone told me no. According to a comment on an article, someone told me when u return/exchange the phone u go back to your old contract but the new phone starts a new contract. Someone with knowledge please tell me this is incorrect.

I think the problem comes in when you want to exchange the phone after the 28th, when the new Shared Data plans are in effect. You're getting a new phone at a subsidised price after the 28th. Perhaps if when you exchange phones, you pay full price for the new phone they would let you keep your unlimited data. I don't know.

I think the OP's best bet is to decide which phone you want before the 28th and stick with the decision. Sometimes playing games and trying to find loopholes can come back to bite you.

Best of luck whatever you decide to do. :)

The s3 wont come out until the 12th. That is one day past the 2 week window according to other people because you have to get your phone the 27th. So you would not be able to switch your phones. If I were you I would preorder the S3...

I believe this to be a very legitimate ?. In these troubled times not knowing if you will be able to afford to pay bills as prices rise on a daily basis. And greedy corps like verizon try to separate more of your money from you giving you less and less. You Sir are very misinformed it's verizon that's playing games and trying to find loopholes. If we were as underhanded as verizon we would not have to ask these ?.

There needs to be some price control in this industry as well as cable company's (comcast) and others. Why do you think the new plan's give you unlimited voice & text and it's benefiting the consumer no. They know everyone's going to use the data more and more and there cashing in. Do you really believe verizon is hurting and not making a huge profit already when is enough enough. Can't you see verizon is the one that's (playing games and trying to find loopholes) to charge you more and give you less. You can't see that it's these corp's bank's and casino's are just modern day gangsters. By law they don't play by the same rules you and I play by.

But That's Just My Opinion. I Could Be Wrong

Ok back on topic. My situation I'm upgrading 2 phones on a family plan I have grandfathered unlimited data. I ordered a Droid Bionic & a Samsung Galaxy S III. I have just received the Droid Bionic Activated it on Friday, Saturday morning yesterday it start's turning it self off press power bottom nothing. So I think wow I actually liked this phone for about 16 hour's. Yea I know battery pull ok it starts but it happens again. I'm just testing it out for my wife as verizon has seen fit to reduce the 30 day return to only 14 day's. So I call verizon to troubleshoot and without even asking he want's to send me out a new one (RED FLAG) they never offer without same haggling. Meanwhile he's setting this up I do an internet search for this specific problem. Hoping this is just an isolated incident unfortunately other's are having this problem but were not so lucky to find it in the return window I ask what if the replacement has same problem or worst (will send out another one). Ok at that point can I exchange it for another phone ? (vz) Yes for a $35 restocking fee (Me) you're joking I have to pay a restocking fee to return a new defective phone and buy another one. Wow you sell me a defective product an I have to pay $35 to return it.

Anyway verizon is so forthcoming with details on changes they make and such an honest and upfront company.NOT So to Answer the OP you could call 10 time's and get 10 different answers. Look at it this way if it look's like they'll make more money on it that's the direction they will go. You will get the true answer like all of us when they send you a bill.

Verizon we pride ourselves on Greed and Misinformation.

Oh and just remember one thing verizon claims to be a communication company.WoW

Well, I'm glad you straightened my misinformed bu*t out. (and thanks for the "Sir") :)

Are you really saying you want to have the government setting prices, and give up competition as the way to keep prices in line? If Verizons prices are to high, the other wireless carriers will syphon away most of their customers.

Bottom line, Verizon only gets your money if you give it to them voluntarily. Don't sign anything you don't agree to.

These aren't the droids you're looking for.

Best of luck to all of us. I have a good time reading and writing on these forums. I assume you do too. (otherwise we wouldn't do it, right?) :)

Yes, you will be able to keep the same plan if you swap devices, if you get a 4g phone with the micro sim, the only thing the rep has to do is swap the sim and process the transaction in there pos terminal. That's assuming you get a phone that had a micro sim and you purchase from a retailer that has the 30 day exchange period.

Hey Dirk,

I see why you seem so happy:D Retired living in Gods country.

Good for you God Bless You:)

Well, that does help some. ;)

The other thing is about 30 years ago I was using the old bean and married a younger woman, so she's still working. Well truth be told there were other bennies to marrying a younger woman and I really never thought about that she'd still be working when I retired. Actually can't wait for her to retire now so we can takes some cruises and visit the kids and grandkids on the mainland whenever the spirit moves us.

Thanks so much for the kind words and God Bless You and Yours too! :)

Best of luck to all of us,
