This fee depends on what you are doing. If you bring the phone back in because it is defective in the first 14 days (to a corporate store), they will give you a BRAND NEW device for NO COST. If you want to trade in a device because you hate it or can't work it you can get that fee waived and can get a device of equal value (you can chose to pay more or get a kickback on your next bill if the device is more or less expensive). If you cancel the line of service... you're stuck paying it. Sorry.
