Upgrade from Turbo 2

The Moto Z Force is apparently earmarked as an upgrade to the Turbo 2.

Are you planning to convert from the Turbo 2 to the Moto Z Force?

The advantages I see are ...

Thinner
Larger
Shorter battery time
4GB vs. 3GB
Interface to support a connected speaker or connected projector
$700-$800

I inheritied the Turbo 2 from my wife after I got her a X Pure that she wanted. (Long story, she drowns her original x pure in lake. I had to argue with Asurion to give her a Turbo 2 instead of older x. I got a new pure on last sale, I now use Turbo2 after my LG g3 just dies and I was forced to use a LG G2, also my wifes.) Any way I am planning on getting the Z Force. I actually got the BB deal for my son and was comparing his to the Turbo2. Similar size phone wise. The Force just feels nicer. I am actually ok with the Turbo 2 for now until I can get mine, but I did take my son's free Speaker MOD for my own. The Z force feels very nice with the supplied backplate or even naked. I held the z in the store, it felt too thin to me for the little time I used it.

I thought that the Turbo 2 was too big, so, despite being thinner, this is not the phone for me.

Since the Moto Mods interface seems to be built for a 5.5" display sized phone, and Lenovo plans for the Moto Mods to work on their next generation of devices, I fear that Lenovo has lost me as a customer for a while to come. If they ever come out with a high-level device in a 5" display form factor, I'll think about it again.

My GUESS is that the dimensions of the Moto Mods platform will dictate camera dimensions. It struck me as pretty odd that they didn't do the connection with a cable. Perhaps a cable out the bottom.

I think if they are really serious about Turbo 2 users converting to Moto Z Force they will ...
  • Provide the $300 discount they give to some phone updates. They only give $200 to Turbo 2 updates.
  • Provide the $75 battery extender at no charge. There is no wireless charging unless you have a battery extender plug in.

I just made the swap today, my wife, coming from Nexus 6 and I from turbo 2. Buy 1 get 1 half off. We have other lines with children and they got the turbo 2. So we got 2 new phones and bill stayed the same. Love it so far, not a big upgrade in any way but definitely a bit more future proof and should be getting 7.0 very soon. I was torn, was really about to get the s7 edge... But I just love the Moto Android experience.

Love my new Z Force and my wife loves hers as well. I came back to Android from iOS and have no regrets. Super excited about the mods!
