Upgrade OS in Galaxy S4?

Malfo

Lurker
Currently I am running Android 4.3. I wanted to buy a heart monitor but it required 4.4 or higher.
I notice also a few of my apps no longer function and advise "install" but when I try to install it says my phone not compatible.
I have the Straight Talk service and they no nothing about it.
Any help will be appreciated.

If your model of Galaxy S4 for Straight Talk/Tracfone is S975L then I am afraid you are screwed as far as a stock firmware is concerned as this carrier model only ever had one firmware release and that is the one you are on, Android 4.3 with release... S975LUDUANB1 back in March 2014.

To obtain your version number, see #1.2 of 29 Galaxy S4 models - know yours?

You will have to look at rooting your phone and flashing a custom ROM. See...

[GUIDE] SM-S975L / SGH-S970G - 6.0.1 - 5.1.1 - 4.4.2 - Custom ROMS and Recovery
